Each day our teachers take responsibility for the education and guidance of our children. We all know that our little ones arrive at school with vastly different gifts, abilities and needs. We are so lucky to have teachers at R. B. Hunt who appreciate and celebrate these differences; teachers who are willing and able to create classroom environments which play to the strengths of each child so that our students are prepared to move forward with confidence.
Because of all they do for our families, we set aside a week each year to do something special for our teachers. Each day during Teacher Appreciation Week, families send in a different treat for their teachers. Please remember to include Coach Durr, Mr. Solomon, Mrs. Watson, and Mrs. Gorick on your children’s resource days. The theme for each day is listed below.
Please help us show our teachers how important they are by participating in this special week of teacher appreciation!
Monday, May 7th An apple for the teacher.
This, of course, doesn’t have to be a real apple! Please consider classroom books about apples, apple notepads, apple artwork done by your student, or anything else apple that your student thinks is wonderful.
Tuesday, May 8th A special treat.
This should be a small gift card to treat your teacher. Some suggestions would be: Starbucks, Marble Slab Creamery... anyplace where $5.00 or so will buy a treat.
Wednesday May 9th Heartfelt appreciation.
Please send a letter of appreciation to your teacher on this day. We all know how far a simple thank-you can go to make someone feel special. We would love to see our teachers receive letters of gratitude and encouragement from parents, students, grandparents, and anyone else who has been touched by their generous spirit.
Thursday, May 10th AR Books.
We have a spectacular AR program at R.B. Hunt! Let’s help our teachers restock their rooms with AR books appropriate to their classroom’s reading level. Please visit the AR website to look up the level of a book. For your convenience, we will have special Spring Book Fair gift certificates available in the office beginning April 23rd, so that the teachers may pick their own books.
Friday, May 11th Wonderful & personal.
You and your children know your teachers best. On Friday, show your teachers how much you appreciate all the hard work and dedication they show every day. Ask your student what would be good. Some teachers like bears, some like gardening, some like running, some like college football. Trust us, your kids know their teachers. Let them be creative.
